    Dear Friends & Neighbors,

    On Monday March 8th, the Education Committee will conduct a public hearing on S.B. 977, “An Act Concerning Virtual Learning.” The stated purpose of this committee bill is “to require the Department of Education to develop uniform standards for the provision of virtual learning in public schools, conduct a comprehensive audit of virtual learning programs in the state and develop guidelines for training educators in the provision of virtual learning.”

    This is your opportunity to share your experiences with virtual learning and ideas on how it can be improved. If this topic does not interest you, please feel free to share this information with anyone you think might benefit from it.

    The hearing can be watched live on YouTube and may be broadcast on CT-N.

    Public testimony can be given virtually via Zoom or written and submitted via email. The deadline to register is Friday, March 5, at 3 p.m.

    The Education Committee public hearing for Monday included the following bills:

    • HB 6557 An Act Concerning Social and Emotional Learning. 
    • HB 6556 An Act Addressing Issues Created by The Covid-19 Pandemic on Public Education in Connecticut. 
    • SB 977 An Act Concerning Virtual Learning. 
    • HB 6558 An Act Concerning Issues Relating to The Provision of Early Childhood Education and Services in Connecticut. 
    • HB 6559 An Act Implementing the Recommendations of The Office of Early Childhood. 
    • SB 976 An Act Concerning Special Education.
