New Law is a “Win-Win” for New Hartford Residents

HARTFORD- Today, Senator Lisa Seminara (R-Avon), Representative Mark Anderson (R-New Hartford), and New Hartford First Selectman Daniel Jerram applauded the signing of legislation consolidating the New Hartford Fire District and the Pine Meadow Fire District.

“Public meetings were held with key stakeholders, and it was determined that merging these two districts would better protect New Hartford residents.  This new law codifies the merger, and I was pleased to work with First Selectman Jerram and Rep. Mark Anderson to get this passed with unanimous support in both the Senate and the House,” said Senator Seminara.

“The Pine Meadow Fire District is very small, with only 105 taxable properties,” Rep. Anderson said. “The New Hartford Fire Association wholly surrounds it. The merger has had overwhelming support from town voters, but it required a state law to make the merger happen.  We are thankful to First Selectman Jerram for his efforts on behalf of the town to better protect residents and make operations more efficient.”

“This new law will help lower costs for New Hartford residents and improve service,” First Selectman Jerram said.  “It really is a win-win scenario for the town, and I thank Sen. Seminara and Rep. Anderson for listening to New Hartford and for their work on this legislation.”

Good principles lead to good gun policy

The June Drummer ran an opinion piece by Michael Fitzgerald questioning my legislative agenda, specifically HB 5717. Fitzgerald cited the Sandy Hook tragedy that led to Connecticut’s restrictive gun laws, and the recent Granby budget that funds a School Resource Officer (SRO). Of course, that a human being reached such a mental state that he murdered 20 […]
