National Veterans Small Business Week Begins November 1st

As a Veteran and a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about National Veterans Small Business Week that begins on November 1st.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and its extensive partner network will be celebrating the strength and resilience of the veteran business community by hosting events (many virtually) across the country and sharing information about the resources available to veteran entrepreneurs.

The SBA helps veterans tackle new challenges – from understanding how to become lender ready, develop an emergency plan, or connect with a mentor to help rebuild a professional network.

SBA empowers service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses with entrepreneurial trainings and resources right in their local community. Through a network of partners and grantees, SBA offers specialized training programs for women veterans, service-disabled veterans, and veterans interested in federal procurement. Entrepreneurs across the nation can access these programs in-person or virtually at every stage of small business ownership.

Good principles lead to good gun policy

The June Drummer ran an opinion piece by Michael Fitzgerald questioning my legislative agenda, specifically HB 5717. Fitzgerald cited the Sandy Hook tragedy that led to Connecticut’s restrictive gun laws, and the recent Granby budget that funds a School Resource Officer (SRO). Of course, that a human being reached such a mental state that he murdered 20 […]
