BARKHAMSTED – State Rep. Mark Anderson recently shared that the town has been awarded $1,077,856 through the Transportation Rural Improvement Program (TRIP) for roadway improvements on West River Road. This 4.04-mile scenic road runs along the West Branch of the Farmington River, serving as a key route through the American Legion State Forest, passing the Austin Hawes Campground, and connecting Pleasant Valley to the historic Village of Riverton.
“This investment will support repaving and infrastructure upgrades, improving safety and accessibility for residents, visitors, and outdoor enthusiasts who travel this beautiful corridor,” said Anderson.
According to Anderson, more improvements to come as the state continues investing in our rural communities!
