Capitol Update: EV Mandate Stalled, Holiday Shopping Scam Alert, and Roadwork in Barkhamsted

Electric Vehicle Mandate Stalled Out…
The governor recently indicated that his controversial mandate, which would require all Connecticut residents to only have the option to purchase new electric vehicles by 2035, has been set aside and taken off the table for the 2025 session. I commend his decision, in light of inflation and a high cost-of-living in our state, to let consumers decide which vehicle makes the most sense for them to buy. While I will remain cognizant of other costly mandates, this is a step in the right direction as we look to begin our upcoming law-making period.
Watching Out for Holiday Scams…

Holiday shopping is right around the corner. Don’t let yourself get scammed! Below are some important tips from the Dept. of Consumer Protection that you can follow that will protect your sensitive information as you complete various transactions.
How it works: scammers create fake websites that mimic legitimate companies. They use Black Friday deals and shopping discounts as bait to steal your personal data and payment information. They often promise prices for popular items that are too good to be true.
How to protect yourself: check and verify the authenticity of a suspicious website by looking for typos, poor grammar, an altered URL, altered logos, odd fonts, and a lack of contact information. Research any business or company if their website online looks suspicious to ensure they are legitimate
