Anderson Earns 100% Voting Record Score from CT Business & Industry Association

Hartford – On Wednesday the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) released its 2024 voter record scores for the Connecticut State House and Senate. Its scores were based on action taken on several priority pieces of legislation that had been flagged by the organization because of their expected impact on various business sectors. According to CBIA’s legislative record report, State Rep. Mark Anderson (R-Granby) completed the 2024 session with a perfect score, signaling his support and advocacy effort in favor of the state’s business community.

“Connecticut’s businesses are positioned in a difficult climate, given record-high inflation and high tax rate, yet we continue to host world-class organizations throughout our state. I appreciate CBIA’s recognition of my voting record in support of the business community. Without the mom-and-pop shops that adorn the 62nd District, our state would be in serious trouble,” said Anderson.

Anderson opposed a costly mandate to all state businesses that will require a vast expansion of mandatory paid sick leave. This blanket policy will apply to all businesses, regardless of size, by 2027.

“There are too many cumbersome reporting requirements, fees, and taxes placed on our businesses. I will continue to oppose policies that place more government bureaucracy on them or seek to levy greater revenue. However, I was proud to support initiatives that support entrepreneurship and provide resources to working families,” said Anderson.

Anderson also proposed a bill earlier in the year that would have repealed the state’s Truck Tax. A tax that has been repealed in many states that had initiated similar programs and drives the cost up on food and everyday items.

Good principles lead to good gun policy

The June Drummer ran an opinion piece by Michael Fitzgerald questioning my legislative agenda, specifically HB 5717. Fitzgerald cited the Sandy Hook tragedy that led to Connecticut’s restrictive gun laws, and the recent Granby budget that funds a School Resource Officer (SRO). Of course, that a human being reached such a mental state that he murdered 20 […]
