Granby – On Thursday afternoon, State Representative Mark Anderson (R-Granby) attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at Granby Memorial High School in recognition of the completion of major renovations made to the school. The renovations included a new kitchen/cafeteria, choral and band rooms, a culinary arts room, and woodshop. Remarks were made by First Selectman Mark Fiorentino, Building Committee Chairman Thomas Proctor, Chairman of the Board of Education Sarah Thrall, and Superintendent Jordan Grossman.
“Granby students will benefit from this project for years to come. The work and dedication put in by the coordination team to make this project come to fruition goes a long way to ensure our high schoolers have a quality learning environment,” said Anderson.
The ceremony was attended by the Town of Granby Building Committee and the Granby Board of Education, the two leading organizations that worked to complete the project. Additionally, faculty, students, and members of the community also participated in the event.
According to Granby’s Superintendent Jordan Grossman, students have been making use of the renovated spaces for roughly five weeks. The cafeteria, however, was not fully operational until the ribbon cutting. Attendees were treated to samplings of food that was donated by Fresh Pick’s Café which provides food services to the schools, ranging from fruit platters to excellent pumpkin bisque. Additionally, all renovated rooms and spaces were open for the public to see.
Anderson will be looking to collaborate with the Board of Education and Building Committee on future projects improving infrastructure and technology throughout the Granby school system.
