HARTFORD – H.B. 5355, An Act Concerning the Water Resources of the Upper Farmington River Valley, has been approved by both House and Senate in final days of the 2024 Session.
“I am pleased to report that legislation focused on the Farmington River has been unanimously approved by both the House and Senate. H.B. 5355, which I introduced along with Senator Lisa Seminara, requires the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) commissioner to make Colebrook River Lake Dam release and holdback requests to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as needed, to achieve an optimum flow in the Farmington River for fish and wildlife, recreation, the river’s health, flood risk reduction, tourism, hydropower, and safety. I want to thank Sen. Seminara for her continued advocacy on this issue, as well as the other co-sponsors on this important piece of legislation. It now heads to the Governor’s desk for his signature,” said Anderson.
The bill has been transmitted from the Office of the Secretary of the State to the Governor’s office for his action.
