Arts Endowment Fund Grants Awarded Locally

Hartford–The Connecticut Office of the Arts recently awarded Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund (CAEF) grants totaling $864,233 to 165 organizations across the state, including a couple in Danbury.

The Danbury Music Centre was awarded a $1,414 grant and the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut in Danbury was awarded $500.

Chaleski Encourages Businesses, Residents to Speak Out on Highway Use Tax on Trucks

Hartford—State Representative Rachel Chaleski (R-138) joined a diverse group of business owners today in talking about the negative impact the state’s highway use tax on trucks will have on Connecticut’s economy. Four other states (New York, New Mexico, Oregon, and Kentucky) have such a tax. About 20 states have deemed this tax not to be workable and have repealed it. This tax will impact construction, lumber, energy, equipment transport, and agriculture among other industries.
