This Thursday, August 17, 2017 the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) will hold a public hearing regarding Gov. Malloy’s July 25th executive order initiating a study of Millstone’s operations and efficiency.

This meeting is being held to receive public comment from interested stakeholders and members of the public regarding issues raised in Executive Order 59 and any other information or analysis that will assist DEEP and PURA with implementing the Executive Order.

This is an opportunity to share your perspective about the important role Millstone Power Station plays in providing power, preserving jobs and keeping energy costs down in Connecticut. I have said it before and I will continue to advocate for Millstone’s future: the Legislature needs to take action to save Millstone. A mere study will accomplish nothing. There is a very real risk of Millstone leaving our state, and I cannot imagine the consequences their absence would have on our economy and residents.

Millstone provides more than half the power used in our state every day. Tell DEEP and PURA that ensuring Millstone stays open is vital not only to our Southeastern Connecticut communities, but to the State of Connecticut as a whole.

Those who wish to testify may attend the public hearing at 9:30 a.m. in the Gina McCarthy Auditorium located on 79 Elm Street in Hartford. Please RSVP to DEEP.EnergyBureau@ct.gov by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, August 15, 2017, if you plan to attend and/or present testimony.

You can also submit written comments by emailing DEEP.EnergyBureau@ct.gov. Please click here for guildelines on how to submit your comments by 1:00 p.m. on August 23, 3017.

Notifications of a cancellation or postponement of the meeting will be recorded on PURA’s office telephone line at 860-827-1553 (dial option 4). Persons with special needs in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act who wish to attend should contact the DEEP at 860-418-5910 or deep.accomodations@ct.gov.

Thank you for your participation regarding this extremely important issue.
