HARTFORD – On Thursday State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) supported two important bills that would augment the quality of life for residents here in Connecticut:

H.B. 7205, An Act Concerning Early Literacy, requires that the results of reading instruction surveys be distributed to educators and supervisors for the purpose of informing teacher professional development in regards to reading instruction. It also establishes a Reading Readiness program that provides tiered early literacy support to students.

Rep. McCarty co-sponsored and voted for this bill, which implements one of the four major priorities of the Alliance Districts to improve the quality of education delivery, because she believes it will supplement teacher training programs and help close the achievement gap in our state.

H.B. 7020, An Act Requiring the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Program Review and Investigations Committee Concerning Long-Term Care, would support Connecticut’s senior citizens by enhancing reports on long-term care services to determine where inefficiencies or gaps lie, and how they can be improved.
