WATERFORD – This Sunday local Waterford officials and family and friends of Sydney Tabor, a graduating Waterford High School Senior, gathered at the O’Neill Theater to celebrate Sydney’s promotion to a Gold Scout. This is the highest honor that you can achieve as a Girl Scout, with only about 6% ever doing so.

The Gold Award recognizes girls who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through remarkable Take Action projects, which take one to two years to complete, and have sustainable impact on their communities and beyond. Through her Gold Award Project, Sydney successfully donated books to over 300 villages in Kenya.

“Congratulations to an amazing young lady!” said Rep. McCarty. “Waterford is proud to have such a dedicated student and community member. Best of luck in all your future endeavors!”

At Sydney’s Gold Award Pinning Ceremony, Rep. McCarty presented her with an official Connecticut General Assembly citation commemorating this milestone.
