State and local officials on Sept. 7 visited Waterbury-Oxford Airport to honor the Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour.

The tour, which stopped at the airport from Sept. 6 to 8, featured three World War II combat aircraft and enabled World War II veterans from all services to reunite and share their stories.

The nonprofit foundation, based in Stowe, Mass., brought to the airport a vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator and a North American P-51 Mustang. Oxford…
