Rep. Zupkus Congratulates 2025 Kid Governor

WATERBURY – Rep. Lezlye Zupkus, R-Prospect, was an invited guest recently for the announcement that Keudy Martinez, who is in the fifth grade at Chase Elementary School in Waterbury, has been selected as Connecticut’s Kid Governor for 2025.
Rep. Zupkus, whose legislative district includes Waterbury, joined Reps. Ron Napoli and Michael Digiovancarlo at the school when Keudy, who was one of seven finalists from across the state, learned he had won and gave his acceptance speech.
Students chanted his name and his family were on hand to share in the proud moment. The Connecticut Kid Governor program allows fifth graders to nominate a classmate from their school who later runs for the office in a statewide election determined by students. Keudy’s platform was school safety among students and addressing bullying with an action plan that included counseling, standing up to bullying and reporting unsafe behavior so kids could focus on what matters most – learning.
“It was heartwarming to see him win and I wanted to wish him good luck as he brings his platform across the state,” said Rep. Zupkus. “Keudy is making Waterbury and his school proud and I’m sure he will use his platform to make a difference in the lives of Connecticut’s students.”
