Hartford –Representative Lezlye Zupkus (R-Prospect, Cheshire, Bethany) hosted the Commissioner of the State Department on Aging, Elizabeth Ritter, as guest speaker at the Cheshire Senior Center last week. Both Representative Zupkus and Commissioner Ritter spoke with the seniors about current legislation and budget issues affecting seniors.
“It is important that our seniors feel informed about the issues facing the elderly, and are provided the opportunity for discussion and to ask questions,” said Zupkus. “I thank Commissioner Ritter for attending and participating in the dialogue so that we can be responsive to the needs of our senior residents. It is my hope that those who attended this forum came away with answers and information that will be helpful to them.”
Much of the discussion centered on issues related to aging in place, in addition to the ‘meals-on-wheels’ home delivery food service.
The 2015 Legislative Session will adjourn on June 3rd.
