Zupkus Sworn In, Again Takes Aim at Spending

HARTFORD – Mending state finances, improving public safety and creating a better climate for economic growth are top priorities again for State Rep. Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) who was sworn into office Wednesday for a second term.
Fiscal responsibility is the focal point of 2015 for the lawmaker, who believes Connecticut needs to make fiscal responsibility a top priority. With state officials facing a massive budget deficit, Zupkus said it’s time to get state spending under control – an issue she’s been touting for the past two years.
“It’s an honor and a humbling experience to again represent the towns of Bethany, Cheshire and Prospect,” Zupkus said. “We need to continue to look at ways to better manage our finances and address economic concerns, ensuring a Connecticut that is more-friendly to businesses and encourages job growth.”
A member of the General Law, Human Services and Public Safety committees, Zupkus will play an integral role in her second term with issues directly impacting her district consisting of Bethany, Cheshire and Prospect.
Zupkus intends on ramping up public safety laws, too. Working hand-in-hand with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Zupkus will again work the advocacy organization that named her a “Community Champion” in 2014 for her work in battling intoxicated driving.
