Zupkus, Prospect Lawmakers Hear from Residents

HARTFORD- State Rep. Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) and State Senator Rob Sampson (R-16) hosted a legislative coffee hour with dozens of Prospect constituents at the Dairy Bar last week.

Now that the legislative session is underway both Sen. Sampson and Rep. Zupkus wanted to hear from their constituents on the major state issues likely to be considered this year in the General Assembly.
Some of the issues discussed with the crowd were: a proposed tax on groceries, a proposed tax on prescription medication, a plan to forced school districts to regionalize, a plan to toll cars and trucks on highways across the state.
“I want to thank everyone who attended the coffee hour. I am honored to serve you and will take all of your concerns into account during debate,” said Rep. Zupkus. “People, especially seniors on fixed incomes are afraid they will be forced to pay more in tax and have less for their meals, transportation, heat and electricity. We cannot continue to make Connecticut more unaffordable to our residents.”
