State Rep. Lezlye Zupkus had the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance during a recent Naturalization Ceremony held at the Old State House in Hartford, where 25 people became citizens of the United States. The Coastal Chordsmen provided everyone in attendance with beautiful renditions of the National Anthem and God Bless America. More than 12 countries were represented in the room, including Vietnam, Albania, China and Peru. Zupkus and her husband are hosting a Guatemalan student, who was able to attend the event with Zupkus and witness this special day in the lives of these men and women and their families. Zupkus said our country is stronger for having these folks complete the process that affords them the rights and privileges that come with citizenship.
