Prospect – State Representative Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) paid a visit to Prospect Elementary School to participate in Read Across America Day.
n honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Rep. Zupkus joined in the nationwide celebration by reading the popular ‘Happy Birthday to You’ to Mrs. Saviello’s second grade class.
“It was a pleasure to participate in this year’s Read Across America celebration at Prospect Elementary School,” said Rep. Zupkus. “It is essential to emphasize the importance of reading as students continue their learning and development. Today’s celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday is a great way to engage students and I was thrilled to have spent time reading to these bright and energetic youngsters.”
According to their website, The National Education Association seeks to build a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now in its 19th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
