HARTFORD- State Rep. Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) along with Bethany resident Ron Lizzi testified in the Government Administration and Elections (GAE) committee on HB 5281 An Act Concerning Unclaimed Property which requires that the unclaimed property list be “easily accessible” and “searchable and be easy to find, by name or address, which is not currently the case.

Both Rep. Zupkus and Mr. Lizzi believe that Connecticut must do better, and they support any efforts to return more money to the rightful owners.

The House ranking member of the GAE committee Rep. Mike France (R-Ledyard) mentioned during the hearing that because of the legislation Mr. Lizzi has advocated for the last two years the State Treasurer has moved to push for additional actions to alert residents of potential unclaimed property.
