State Rep. Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) joined distinguished speakers and guests at the Connecticut State Library event to launch Remembering World War One: Sharing History/Preserving Memories. The project is a community centered commemorative initiative which seeks to build a permanent digital archive of Connecticut’s role in the Great War.
During the event, Zupkus’ constituent, Anna Nichols, a 5th grader at Community School in Prospect, recited John McRae’s “In Flanders Field”, a poem written during WWI. Following the event, Nichols, joined by her family, received a standing ovation and welcome from legislators as they were introduced on the floor of the House of Representatives by Zupkus.
