Prospect-State Senator Joe Markley (R-16) and State Representative Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) announced today that the town of Prospect will receive $125,000 in state funds to repair existing sidewalks and install new sidewalks along Center Street and Columbia Avenue. The streets are main access points for Town Hall as well as other municipal facilities. The new sidewalks will extend the full length of the roadway to provide safe traveling spaces for runners, walkers and students of nearby schools. The project will also bring the area up to ADA code and add attractive streetscape elements.

“Prospect is going to get the funds it needs to complete some sidewalk repairs around Town Hall,” said Senator Markley, “Without the mayor’s hard work and steady leadership, we wouldn’t be tackling this important project.”

“These funds will go a long way toward supporting the safety of our children and all residents of Prospect with the exciting addition of some new sidewalks,” said Representative Zupkus.  “The safety and well-being of our residents is an absolute priority. I’d like to thank Mayor Bob Chatfield for joining us in our continued focus on improving the quality of life for our residents.”

“I’d like to thank Sen. Markley, Rep. Zupkus, and Prospect Grants Director Megan Fortier, for their assistance in this process.  This grant will help to make existing sidewalks ADA accessible, provide a sidewalk toward Long River Middle School, and beautify the Town Hall area,” said Prospect Mayor Bob Chatfield.
