HARTFORD- State Representative Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) toured the newly renovated and improved Bethany Community Garden on Saturday morning.
The Bethany Community Garden recently constructed 30 raised beds, 4 double height beds for disabled gardeners, deer fencing, and a shed. In addition, they added two picnic tables and purchased new supplies.
“Providing all residents with the opportunity to have land to grow healthy food and a place to come together as a community is wonderful to see,” said Rep. Zupkus. “The expansion of the Bethany Community Garden happened because of their dedicated and hardworking volunteers. I am excited to see that the local farmers are using the community garden to educate our youth about gardening and to grow food for families in need. I hope residents take advantage of having the community garden in their backyards.”
