Rep. Zupkus Takes Oath of Office to Begin Session
HARTFORD- State Representative Lezlye Zupkus (R-89) joined her fellow legislative lawmakers for opening day of the 2017 Legislative Session at the State Capitol yesterday which started her third two-year term.
Rep. Zupkus also received her legislative committee assignments this week from House Republican Leader Themis Klarides. Zupkus will now serve as the Ranking Member of the legislature’s Children Committee. In addition, she will continue to serve on the Public Safety Committee and was placed on the Screening Committee to help vet legislation for the House Republican Caucus.
As well as playing an important role for her Caucus this term on her committees, Rep. Zupkus was additional tapped for a leadership role as the Deputy House Republican Caucus Chairman.
“I am honored to be given another opportunity to serve the residents of the 89th District,” said Rep. Zupkus. “We will face many challenges this legislative session but we have the opportunity to make significant long-term changes that will help set Connecticut on a new course towards sustainability. In order to accomplish great things this session both parties must work together and I believe we can find common ground.”
Rep. Zupkus added that she is excited to take on her new leadership roles for the House Republican Caucus.
