HARTFORD- State Representative Lezlye Zupkus joined the entire Cheshire Delegation on Monday for a Legislative Town Hall Meeting to update residents about the current legislative session and the issues impacting the state.
“The primary focus for us in Hartford is tackling the state’s massive budget deficit,” said Rep. Zupkus. “The time is now for us to reform our budgeting process and to prioritize our spending. I am tired of seeing my neighbors and local business owners pack their bags for pro-growth and tax friendly states.”
The state’s current budget deficit – projected to be $3.7 billion over the next two years – took up most of the conversation, but other topics, including jobs, manufacturing, taxes and proposed cuts to education and hospital funding, were also discussed at length. During the event, the legislators reaffirmed their commitment to finding fiscally responsible and sustainable ways to close the budget deficit.
The town hall was held at the Cheshire Senior Center on Maple Ave.
