April 24 is the DEA’s National Take Back Day, a day we are encouraged to properly dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs. Properly disposing of medications is important in order to prevent theft and misuse, and also to protect the environment. Medications that end up in the water supply, sewage system or landfills can be harmful to animals, plants and even people.
The Cheshire Police Department has a 24-hour drop box at 500 Highland Avenue in Cheshire that can be utilized for safe disposal. Medications must be in plastic bags, as they will not accept prescription bottles.
There is also a 24-hour drop box in the front lobby of the Troop I Barracks at 631 Amity Road in Bethany.
