HARTFORD- House Republican Leader Themis Klarides and State Representatives Lezlye Zupkus and Nicole Klarides-Ditria honored law enforcement officers from around the state at the Capitol on Tuesday for National Police Week. Local Connecticut State Trooper Kate Cummings, from Troop I located in Bethany, joined the lawmakers in Hartford for the celebration.

Rep. Zupkus said, “It was an honor to have CSP Trooper Cummings joins us at the Capitol this week for National Police Week. I want to thank her and all police officers for their courage and for putting the safety of residents first.”

House Republican Leader Themis Klarides said, “Every day we should thank those who put their lives at risk to keep us safe and secure. Police officers are always there for us, no matter the situation, no matter the time of day, we can count on them to show up when help is needed. I applaud our police officers throughout the state for their bravery and commitment to protecting our communities.”

Rep. Klarides-Ditria added, “Thank you to all the law enforcement officers that joined us at the Capitol this week and all of those who protect and serve our communities. I am a proud wife of a police officer and see first-hand the courage and selfless acts carried out daily by men and women in blue. Anytime you see a police officer, please thank them for the service.”

National Police Week is held during the week of May 15th to honor and show appreciation to law enforcement officers.
