Blizzard Update and Resources

Gov. Malloy’s office has signed a Declaration of Civil Preparedness Emergency to allow state agencies to better coordinate resources as the storm develops. He has issued a travel ban for the entire state of Connecticut beginning at 9 p.m. this evening.
Remember, 2-1-1 is a great telephone resource if you have questions about storm-related resources available to you in our region.
Latest storm update from Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection:
Tonight: The snow will begin to intensify, with snowfall becoming heavy (2-4 inches per hour) around midnight with strong winds gusting to 40 MPH inland and 60 MPH near the coast. We are anticipating the wind chill around 0 F, and major blowing and drifting of snow, which will have a major impact on all travel.
Tomorrow: Blizzard conditions will continue through the morning. The intensity of the snowfall will lessen around noon, but strong winds and snowfall will last into the early evening. Drifting snow will still be an issue, and will have a major impact on all travel during the day.
Tuesday Night: Snow is expected to end around midnight, with total accumulations ranging from 22 inches to 32 inches.
Please take some necessary precautions to ensure you and your family remain safe during this storm.
The Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) is monitoring storm activity. They have regular updates available by visiting their site.
