HARTFORD – Just before the close of the 2022 legislative session, Rep. Lezlye Zupkus presented a check to Mrs. Michelle McCarty, Sgt. Camryn Rawlings and Staff Sgt. Jeovanny Ulloa as part of a fundraising effort for Operation E.L.F. (Embracing Lonely Families), which began in 2001 and provides support for military families who are enduring the hardship of separation due to deployment overseas.

The organization also helps lessen the financial stresses these families face when their loved ones answer the call to duty.

Legislators and staff at the Capitol were “allowed” to dress down the Friday before the close of session if they donated a few dollars for the cause and, as a result, the most money was raised since the drive began – $3,528.

Rep. Zupkus thanked Rep. Catherine Abercrombie who helped organize the fundraising effort, as well as everyone who donated to help military families and Operation ELF.
