I regrettably was forced to cast a no vote today on the Appropriations committee budget proposal. Unfortunately this plan is an assault on the taxpayers of Connecticut. This plan will result in a state tax hike of at least $1 billion and spends over a $100 million more than even Gov. Lamont wished to spend in his budget. The budget also plans to shift 25% of teacher pension costs on to local property taxpayers which will ultimately force towns like Bethany, Cheshire and Prospect to raise their mil rate or cut local services.”
