HARTFORD – On Friday, State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) was appointed by House Republican Leader-elect State Representative Vincent Candelora (R-86) to a new leadership role as House Republican Policy Co-Chairman. In addition, Rep. Zawistowski was re-appointed as a member of the Appropriations Committee, Planning & Development Committee, and the Transportation Committee.

“I look forward to this new role as House Republican Policy Co-Chair,” said Rep. Zawistowski. “We have a lot of work ahead of us as we cope with impact of the coronavirus pandemic and work towards recovery.”

Rep. Candelora noted, “Demonstrating strong leadership qualities within caucus policy conversations is a matter of routine for Tami, and her common-sense views have influenced her colleagues on many occasions. She has a real knack for offering ideas and solutions that can pull together legislators who hold differing viewpoints on an issue, and I know she’ll be a driving force in developing the intricacies of our caucus priorities.”

The new assignments will take effect at the start of the next legislative session in January 2021.

“Continuing to serve on the budget-writing Appropriations Committee, the Planning & Development Committee, and Transportation Committee puts me in a strong position to advocate for the interests of our communities,” concluded Rep. Zawistowski.

Rep. Zawistowski first took office after a special election in 2014 and will begin her fourth term in January. Previously she served as Ranking Member of the Planning & Development Committee, she was recognized as “Legislator of the Year” by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) and a “Town Crier” by the Connecticut Council of Small Towns (COST) in 2019.
