HARTFORD – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) was named Co-Chair of the Rural Caucus at their organizational meeting on Wednesday, December 12th. The caucus membership focuses on issues that impact rural communities and agriculture.

Rep. Zawistowski commented, “I’m honored to serve as caucus co-chair, the Rural Caucus does important work on behalf of our small towns and agricultural communities. The 61st district is home to thriving farms and faces unique challenges to preserve and grow our agricultural economy.”

In 2017 the Rural Caucus was instrumental in maintaining an independent Department of Agriculture. In Connecticut, Agriculture is a $3.8 Billion industry that employs 28,000 workers.
