Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Last month, Democratic members of the Transportation Committee voted in favor of three-toll related proposals. Final passage of these bills (by the House and Senate) would begin the process of placing electronic toll gantries on our highways. The Governor’s proposal involves up to 50 gantries on I-84, I-91, I-95 and the Merritt Parkway, other proposals would allow tolls to be expanded to any other limited access highway, making us one of the most heavily tolled states in the country.

We are asking you to spread the word and reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else who doesn’t agree with the governor and majority party that tolls are the answer to our transportation related issues.

On Saturday, May 18th, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. there will be a Rally Against Tolls on the North Lawn of the State Capitol.

Here are the three proposals:

S.B. 423 (Senate Democrats bill) An Act Concerning Funding for Connecticut’s Transportation Future

H.B. 7202 (the governor’s bill) – An Act Concerning the Sustainability of Connecticut’s Transportation Infrastructure

H.B. 7280 (House Democrats bill)An Act Concerning Support for Transportation Infrastructure and the Creation of the Connecticut Transportation Finance Authority

Sincerely,

Tami Zawistowski – 61st Suffield, East Granby and Windsor
