HARTFORD – State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) presented a congratulatory citation to North Haven resident Daniella Lebron for her participation in “Digging into History: WWI Trench Restoration in Seichprey, France.”

Daniella, a junior at Engineering and Science University Magnet School was one of 15 high school students selected to participate in the program. The students went to France to restore trenches that were built during World War One and used by Connecticut soldiers just over one hundred years ago. The students worked alongside local French students to preserve the trenches.

Rep. Yaccarino shared, “It was an honor to recognize Daniella for her extraordinary efforts and participation in the program. I am truly impressed with the dedication and patriotism displayed by these students who spent weeks restoring the trenches used by American soldiers.”

The program was made possible through the Connecticut Heritage Foundation, the Connecticut State Library, and in cooperation with the village of Seicheprey and Communauté de communes Mad et Moselle. Donations to fund the program were also provided by the American Legion and 102nd Association. For more information about the program visit the website at ctinworldwar1.org/trenchproject.
