In conjunction with Flag Day, State Representative Terrie Wood (R-141) today announced that she will once again be hosting drive-through used American flag drop off events in Darien on June 4th and Rowayton on June 11th.
According to the U.S. Flag Code, when the American flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by a controlled burning ceremony.
“This is a great way to easily retire your worn American flag honorably and with the proper respect it deserves,” Rep. Wood said. “Instead of wondering where or how to dispose of a flag, people can drive up, roll down their window, drop their worn flags and be on their way.”
