HARTFORD – On Wednesday the House of Representatives unanimously approved legislation to study and develop recommendations to increase employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. State Representative Terrie Wood (R-Darien), who co-sponsored and voted in favor of the bill, hopes to see it pass through the Senate as well.
“House Bill 7093 serves as a critical step towards successfully supporting our individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in becoming more independent and potentially self-supporting,” said Rep. Wood, who is also a member of the Legislature’s Human Services Committee, where this bill originated. “It helps them stay active and become involved with peers, as well as helping their loved ones fund their care.”
The bill has been tabled on the Senate calendar. Once passed, a signature from Governor Lamont will enact it into law.
