This Week at the State Capitol

I wanted to keep you up to date with the latest happenings here at your State Capitol. The House of Representatives will be in session on Wednesday, March 2nd and there will be two important public hearings being held on two committees I serve on- Aging and Appropriations. I have included all of the information right from the Connecticut General Assembly Online Bulletin.

I urge you to submit testimony and have your voices heard regarding any bill that might be important to you.

Aging Committee Public Hearing

The Aging Committee will hold a public hearing on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. via Zoom.  The public hearing can be viewed via YouTube Live.  In addition, the public hearing may be recorded and broadcast live on CT-N.com.  Individuals who wish to testify via Zoom must register using the On-line Testimony Registration Form. Registration will close on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. Speaker order of approved registrants will be posted on the Aging Committee website on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. under Public Hearing Testimony.  If you do not have internet access, you may provide testimony via telephone.  To register to testify by phone, call the Phone Registrant Line at (860) 240-0091 to leave your contact information.

Please email written testimony in Word or PDF format to AGEtestimony@cga.ct.gov.  Testimony should clearly state testifier name and related Bills. The Committee requests that testimony be limited to matters related to the items on the Agenda. The first hour of testimony will be reserved for legislators. Speakers will be limited to three minutes of testimony.  The Committee encourages witnesses to submit a written statement and to condense oral testimony to a summary of that statement.  All public hearing testimony, written and spoken, is public information.  As such, it will be made available on the CGA website and indexed by internet search engines.

S.B. No. 173 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE COST AND FEASIBILITY OF PERMITTING THE COMMUNITY SPOUSE OF AN INSTITUTIONALIZED MEDICAID RECIPIENT TO RETAIN THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF ALLOWABLE ASSETS.

S.B. No. 174 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF LONG-TERM CARE NEEDS.

S.B. No. 175 (RAISED) AN ACT EXPANDING ELIGIBILITY FOR THE ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE RESPITE CARE PROGRAM AND SUPPORTING AGING IN PLACE.

H.B. No. 5193 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING RENT INCREASES, FEE INCREASES AND CHANGES IN RESIDENCY STATUS AT CONTINUING-CARE FACILITIES AND MANAGED RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITIES.

H.B. No. 5194 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING REGISTRATION OF TEMPORARY NURSING SERVICES AGENCIES.

H.B. No. 5195 (RAISED) AN ACT REQUIRING NURSING HOME FACILITIES TO ELECTRONICALLY REPORT INVOLUNTARY TRANSFERS OR DISCHARGES TO THE STATE OMBUDSMAN.

H.B. No. 5196 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING ELECTRONIC REPORTING OF INVOLUNTARY TRANSFERS OR DISCHARGES BY RESIDENTIAL CARE HOMES.

H.B. No. 5197 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE NEEDS OF SENIOR CITIZENS.
