The number one issue among the residents I talk with continues to be our high energy costs and the financial burden it places on their budgets. Dating back to January 2023, my Republican colleagues and I have put forth various proposals aimed at reducing those costs only to be rebuffed in our efforts. Today, we once again proposed a plan we believe will provide real solutions.
I am hopeful that my Democrat counterparts who control the legislature’s agendas will join in our efforts to provide all of our residents with some needed financial relief.

This six-point plan would:
➡ Remove Public Benefits Charges from electric bills – and instead have them paid through the state budget
➡ Redefine “Class I renewable energy source” to include any
electricity generated from a hydropower or nuclear power generating facility
➡ Eliminate any incentive program that increases electric demand, including, any electric vehicle rebate program
➡ Study ways to increase the supply of natural gas
➡ Separate PURA from DEEP
➡ Prohibit agreements that buy electricity at more than 150 % above the wholesale price
