The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing improvements at the Southington Rest Area beginning Wednesday, April 1. Improvements include a repaved and expanded rest area with new drainage, lighting, and rest area fixtures. Three stormwater ponds will also be constructed for better drainage. Work is scheduled for completion on Monday, November 30.

While there won't be any highway closures, visitors of the rest area can expect parking lot closure and/or the reduction of parking spaces due to construction.
