Each year, the rights of legal gun owners are threatened by lawmakers who target these men and women under the umbrella of increasing public safety.

HB-7042, a bill put forth this session, places an unjust burden on anyone “engaged in the manufacture, distribution, importation, marketing, wholesale or retail sale of firearm industry products.”
Due to the vagueness of the definition of “reasonable controls” included within this bill, anyone of the mentioned above could be sued and ultimately lose their business as a result of the actions of another individual.

Joshua Serafino, Owner of Lock N’ Load Firearms and constituent of mine testified today as to why this bill is harmful to his business and does nothing to decrease gun violence.
I oppose this proposal and any proposal that fails to address the real issue…. Prosecuting individuals who commit gun crimes. In stats provided by the Judicial Dept. in 2022, there were 103 cases of individuals charged with the illegal transfer of a stolen pistol/revolver. Of those, 6 were dismissed, 7 were found guilty, and 90 were nolled!
