Rep. Veach Introduces Bill to Increase Parental Notification
Posted on February 20, 2025
It is essential that parents and/or guardians are alerted on any/all issues that involve their children.
This session, I introduced a bill to ensure parents and guardians are notified by educators should issues like injury, signs of mental health distress, new gender identity, commission of an act of bullying, or instance of such student’s having been the target of bullying, and a pattern of poor performance or change of student’s record arise.
Current state law only requires notification by a principal or other school administrator of a student whose behavior has caused a serious disruption to the instruction of other students, caused self-harm or caused physical harm to a teacher, another student or other school employee.
