The Dept. of Agriculture is currently accepting applications for its Farm Transition Grant program, a competitive matching grant program for Connecticut farmers and agricultural cooperatives to support the diversification of existing farm operations, transitioning to value-added agricultural production and sales, and other venues in which most products sold are grown in the state.

Applications are due to the department by Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

The CT DOL is alerting residents of a new fraud scam targeting job seekers. Criminals are soliciting banking and other information by calling residents and claiming to be an employer registered with CTHires, the state’s job bank. The attempts to steal personal data through this scam include callers asking for Social Security, bank account, and credit card numbers as well as telling residents they must pay a fee to have their application reviewed for employment. All Connecticut residents are now eligible for ArrayRx, a prescription drug discount card program that provides up to 80% off certain prescriptions.
The program is part of Public Act 23-171, An Act Protecting Patients and Prohibiting Unnecessary Health Care Costs, which was passed with strong support from both sides of the aisle.

Beginning Sunday, August 20, and concluding on Saturday, August 26, clothing items and footwear sold in Connecticut (under $100 per item) will be exempt from the state’s sales tax. This tax holiday was established by the Connecticut General Assembly and will be celebrated for the 23rd time this year.
This is a good time to revamp your wardrobe or take your students back to school shopping. The exemption also applies to sales completed on-line.
