The Connecticut Department of Transportation has three upcoming road construction projects in Newtown:
Exit 9 on I-84 East Closed
The Exit 9 ramp will be closed on I-84 Eastbound in Newtown tonight, May 30th, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to facilitate construction and safety improvement activities.
Eastbound Exit 9 Off-Ramp: Take Exit 10 and follow the Route 25 Detour.
Eastbound Exit 9 On-Ramp: Follow Route 25 Detour to Exit 10.
Resurfacing on Routes 490 & 860
Beginning Monday, June 3rd, the DOT will be resurfacing approximately one mile of State Route 490, from Route 34 to the Garner Correctional Institution, and one mile of State Route 860, from Nunnawauk Road to Route 25. Please expect one-way alternating traffic Sundays through Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., until Friday, June 14th.
Paving on Routes 25 & 6
Beginning Tuesday, June 11th, the DOT will be conducting nighttime resurfacing work on Routes 25 and 6 in Newtown. The work will take place between Route 860 and Churchill Road (1.2 miles) on Route 25, and between Churchill Road and Route 25 (3.1 miles) on Route 6. Please expect one-way alternating traffic Sundays through Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., until Wednesday, July 3rd.
