MONROE – State Representative JP Sredzinski (R-Monroe) congratulates Masuk High School in Monroe as one of just 41 schools in Connecticut to receive a “2019 College Success Award.”
This award, which will be presented by GreatSchools, recognizes Masuk High School’s successful track record of graduating students who later enroll in two or four-year colleges, are ready for college-level coursework, and/or proceed on to their second year of college.
“Congratulations to Masuk High School for this award,” said Rep. Sredzinski, member of the Legislature’s Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee. “This is a really exciting recognition. Thanks to our hard-working educators, school administrators, local Board of Education and our parents, our students are not only excelling academically, but are also stepping out into the world with the confidence and drive to continue working toward their goals and dreams. I can’t wait to see what the next generation of Monroe’s doctors, teachers, scientists, business owners and more bring to the future of Connecticut.”
GreatSchools is a national nonprofit organization that provides information on educational opportunities to parents. Key strategies that they look for in a College Success Award winner school are offering a curriculum that includes access to advanced academics, reaching out to at-risk students, conducting college counseling, holding high expectations for all students, maintaining a close relationship with the local middle school(s) and creating postsecondary pathways for all students.
