Hartford – One of the House Republican bills to make our communities safer will receive a public hearing Monday.
Our bill (H.B. 6878) would restore a police officer’s ability to perform a consent search of a motor vehicle, an important tool to keep drugs and illegal weapons off our streets. It also seeks to ensure that people on the sex offender registry have registered his/her actual residential address. The legislation would also allow law enforcement to pursue vehicles operated by persons suspected of stealing a car, stealing a catalytic converter, or being involved in human trafficking.
