Tree Removal on Route 61 in Bethlehem/Morris

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced that a tree removal operation will take place on Route 61 in Bethlehem on Thursday, Jan. 29.

According to the CTDOT, the department is removing dead, diseased, and decaying trees as a public safety measure. Additionally, trees and vegetation that have grown into the clear zone, which is the safety space along the side of the roadway, are also being removed.

Motorists can expect a road closure on Route 61 (84 Main Street) on Thursday, January 29, 2026, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closure will be from the junction of Route 132 in Bethlehem to Route 109 in Morris. Motorists should seek alternate routes.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area. No work will be performed around any scheduled holidays.
