Litchfield, Warren Receive Grants to Support Sustainable Waste Reduction

HARTFORD – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has announced grants for the towns of Litchfield and Warren as part of the second round of DEEP’s Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Grant Program.

The grants are designed to assist municipalities and regional organizations seeking to manage and bring down solid waste costs. Details on the projects receiving grant awards:

- Litchfield: $99,556 to support the development of a transfer station-based unit-based pricing system and food scraps recycling program.

- Warren: $92,465 to support the development of a transfer station-based unit-based pricing system and food scraps recycling program.
