On Veterans Day we honored and celebrated our retired military personnel and their families for their patriotism and sacrifice for the common good of our nation.
This sacred American holiday began as Armistice Day when on the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an agreement signed by the Allies of World War I and Germany ending hostilities went into effect. The holiday was officially named Veterans Day in 1954.
I am grateful for the women and men in our community who have answered our country’s call to service to defend the freedoms and values that define us as a people.
On behalf of the 70th General Assembly District, I would like to extend our deep appreciation and a heartfelt thank you to our veterans.
