Judiciary Committee Ranking Member State Rep. Rosa Rebimbas (R-Naugatuck) spoke on H.B. 6714, An Act Concerning the Cost of Telecommunications Services in Correctional Facilities on closing day of the 2019 legislative session, June 5, 2019.

“Several hours before the end of session with so much work still to be done the Democrats called bill HB 6714, which would essentially provide free phone calls to inmates,” Rep. Rebimbas said. “This would cause the State of CT to have to pay approximately $7 million dollars more to the Department of Corrections. The bill was not called to be voted on, but only to allow certain legislators to grand stand on this issue. If you really believe in a bill, work in a bipartisan manner to get it a vote, not waste precious time.”
