HARTFORD – State Representative Rosa C. Rebimbas (R-Naugatuck), Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, worked with members on both sides of the aisle to secure passage of S.B. 1207, An Act Concerning the Conveyance of Certain Parcels of State Land in the Borough of Naugatuck, which passed the House and Senate during a Special Session on July 22nd, 2019.
“I am pleased to see this conveyance win approval from the House and Senate, and I thank the chairs and ranking members of the Government Administration and Elections Committee for their support, as well as the Department of Transportation for their willingness to work with us on this important initiative,” Rep. Rebimbas said. “Ultimately, the land could be used for economic development and could generate more revenue for the Borough of Naugatuck. I look forward to working with Mayor Hess and local officials on putting these properties to good use.”
The land will be sold to the town as a cost equal to the fair market value of the properties as determined by the average of two independent appraisals. The conveyance includes two parcels of land – 2.888 acres and .654 acre properties.
They conveyance was originally approved by the House unanimously on Saturday, June 1st, 2019, but was not called in the Senate before regular session adjourned. The bill has been transmitted to Governor Lamont.
